Companion Hospice and Palliative Care in Downey, CA is currently seeking a Full-Time Director of Patient Care Services (DPCS)  to join our team. JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Hospice Program.  Accountable for the planning, implementation, direction and overall management of the total Hospice Program. Insures delivery of highest quality of care and services through the agency. DPCS is ultimately responsible for the development and implementation of the Infection Control Program; directs Quality Assurance services, sales and bottom-line growth of Hospice. Manages Hospice personnel and operations in most efficient and cost effective manner.  Carries out assignments as directed by immediate supervisor. During the absence of the patient care services director, the director of nursing or team leader will assume responsibility for the overall hospice operation.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly responsible to the administrator for operating the hospice within the goals, objectives, and policies established by the Board and within the guidelines of Title 22 and Medicare regulations.

Assures the quality and adequacy of services provided and supervision of staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferably a B.S. degree or higher in nursing or another health related field with three years experience within the last five years in a hospice or home health agency, primary care clinic or health facility, at least one year of which was in a supervisory or administrative capacity.

OR

A Registered Nurse with four years experience within the last five years in a hospice, home health agency, primary care clinic or health facility, at least one year of which was in a supervisory or administrative capacity.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a current license to practice as a registered professional nurse in the State of California.
  • Experience working with hospice patients.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of terminal care with specific expertise in crisis intervention, family counseling, pain and symptom control, and bedside nursing.
  • Demonstrated skill in administrative performance, which includes expertise with communication, both written and oral, supervision of staff, documentation requirements, and service coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute a supportive, sensitive approach to staff and patient/family.
